The Christian Education Center at Lafayette Presbyterian Church is a 5,000
square foot, free standing support facility. The final design is a
compilation of ideas developed in extensive meetings with the building
committee and our design team. Budget was a paramount issue in the design of
the building and helped to delaminate the building’s construction type. The
exterior walls are constructed of load bearing brick masonry that is
exposed, finished material on the interior and exterior of the building.
Several (special amenities) in the design melded an architectural metal
walkway cover and a drive through drop off. Challenges associated with the
project ranged from a difficult site, to keeping the existing structure
fully operational, to dealing with permitting issues with the county. The
project was completed in July of 2002.
Lafayette
Presbyterian Church is an existing facility located on East Mahan Drive.
The Church is expanding to accommodate Sunday School, childcare, and
meeting rooms for various organizations.
