The Cape San Blas Lighthouse Keepers Quarters had virtually slid into the
ocean before Manausa Lewis & Dodson Architects facilitated the relocation of
the house onto more stable ground. The house had been badly damaged from
hurricanes and had fallen into disrepair. This project included structural
stabilization and extensive interior and exterior renovations. Manausa Lewis
& Dodson Architects did extensive research both on site and through
historical documentation that could be found pertaining to the house so that
we could restore the house as per the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for
Rehabilitation. Original paint colors were found and matched and the house
was restored to its original glory and is now situated adjacent to the Cape
San Blas Lighthouse.
The St. Joe Lighthouse Keepers' Quarters was relocated from the cape to more
stable ground. This project included structural stabilization and extensive
renovations.
Manausa Lewis & Dodson has completed Phase I and was rehabilitated with the
Secretary of Interior Standard for Rehabilitation, and coordinated with the
Bureau of Historic Preservation winning them the 2006 Florida Preservation
Award for their work on Phase I .
Manausa Lewis & Dodson has been reselected for Phase II of the project which
will include the restoration of the adjacent lighthouse.
